Lucius Annaeus Seneca, often known as Seneca the Younger, was a prominent Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, and dramatist. Born in Corduba, Hispania, he became a tutor and later an influential advisor to the emperor Nero. His extensive writings, including essays, letters, and tragedies, are foundational texts of Stoicism, exploring ethics, mortality, and emotional control. Seneca's life concluded when he was compelled by Nero to commit suicide for his alleged complicity in a conspiracy.
