Theodore Francis Green was a distinguished American politician from Rhode Island who had a remarkably long career in public service. He served as the 57th Governor of Rhode Island from 1933 to 1937, leading the state during the Great Depression. Following his governorship, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he served four terms from 1937 until 1961. Known for his liberal views and staunch support of President Roosevelt's New Deal, Green remained an influential figure until his retirement at the age of 93, becoming the oldest serving senator at the time.
