Peter Warlock

Composer

Peter Warlock was the pseudonym of Philip Arnold Heseltine, an influential English composer and music critic of the early 20th century. He is best known for his extensive output of songs, which often drew inspiration from Elizabethan and Jacobean music, as well as his interest in the occult. His most famous instrumental work is the 'Capriol Suite,' a collection of dances based on tunes from a 16th-century manual. Despite a relatively short and troubled life, Warlock left a lasting legacy on English art song and the early music revival.
