Maurice Ravel

Composer

Joseph-Maurice Ravel was a French composer, pianist, and conductor, often associated with Impressionism along with his elder contemporary Claude Debussy. In the 1920s and '30s, Ravel was internationally regarded as France's greatest living composer. His compositions, which include orchestral works, chamber music, and piano pieces, often incorporate elements of modernism, baroque, and neoclassicism. Among his most famous works are the orchestral pieces 'Boléro' and 'Daphnis et Chloé,' and the piano suite 'Gaspard de la nuit.'
