Mother Teresa

Humanitarian

Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, a religious congregation that managed homes for people dying of various diseases, soup kitchens, and orphanages. Revered for her selfless work among the poor and destitute in Calcutta, she became a global symbol of charitable work. For her efforts, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2016.
