Jean Vanier

Jean Vanier was a Canadian Catholic philosopher, theologian, and humanitarian who dedicated his life to people with intellectual disabilities. In 1964, he founded L'Arche, an international federation of communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together. He also co-founded Faith and Light with Marie-Hélène Mathieu, another international movement of communities for people with disabilities, their families, and friends. Through his work and writings, Vanier championed a vision of community and belonging that celebrates the unique value of every individual.
