Geoff Hoon is a prominent British Labour Party politician who served in the government of Tony Blair. He held several senior cabinet positions, most notably as Secretary of State for Defence from 1999 to 2005 during the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. After leaving the cabinet, he later served as Leader of the House of Commons and Government Chief Whip. Hoon retired from Parliament at the 2010 general election and has since pursued a career in business.
