Eckhard Pfeiffer was a German-American business executive best known for his transformative tenure as the CEO of Compaq Computer Corporation. Taking the helm in 1991, he aggressively cut prices and expanded distribution channels, catapulting Compaq to become the world's largest PC manufacturer by 1994. Under his leadership, Compaq acquired several major companies, including Tandem Computers and Digital Equipment Corporation, in a bid to challenge IBM. Although his aggressive strategy initially brought massive success, he was ultimately ousted by the board in 1999 amid declining profits and strategic disagreements.
