Christopher John Dodd is an American lawyer, lobbyist, and Democratic Party politician who served as a U.S. Senator from Connecticut from 1981 to 2011. He previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 to 1981. Dodd was a key author of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, a major piece of financial regulation enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. After retiring from the Senate, he became the chairman and chief executive officer of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) from 2011 to 2017.
