Walter Francis Kerr was an influential American writer and theater critic. He began his career writing for the Catholic University of America's journal and later for Commonweal magazine. Kerr gained widespread fame as the drama critic for the New York Herald Tribune and subsequently for The New York Times, where his reviews shaped Broadway for decades.
