Robert Kocharyan is an Armenian politician who served as the second President of Armenia between 1998 and 2008. Prior to his presidency, he was a key figure in the Nagorno-Karabakh movement and served as the first President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. His tenure as president of Armenia saw significant economic growth but was also marked by political controversies, including the disputed 2008 presidential election. After leaving office, he has remained an influential, albeit controversial, figure in Armenian politics.
