Pythagoras

Philosopher

Pythagoras of Samos was an influential ancient Ionian Greek philosopher and the eponymous founder of Pythagoreanism. His political and religious teachings were well-known in Magna Graecia and profoundly influenced the philosophies of Plato, Aristotle, and Western thought. Though he is most famously credited with the Pythagorean theorem, the concept was known to earlier civilizations. The esoteric society he founded, the Brotherhood of Pythagoreans, viewed mathematics and music as a path to spiritual purification.
