Plato

Philosopher

Plato was a pivotal figure in the history of Ancient Greek and Western philosophy, born in Athens during the Classical period. He founded the Platonist school of thought and the Academy, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. Along with his teacher, Socrates, and his student, Aristotle, Plato laid the very foundations of Western philosophy and science. His writings explored justice, beauty, and equality, and also contained discussions in aesthetics, political philosophy, theology, cosmology, and the philosophy of language.
