Peter Gordon MacKay is a Canadian lawyer and politician who served in the Parliament of Canada from 1997 to 2015. He held several prominent cabinet positions under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of National Defence, and Minister of Justice and Attorney General. MacKay was the final leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and co-founded the modern Conservative Party of Canada in 2003 with Stephen Harper. After leaving federal politics, he returned to the private sector but later ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party in 2020, finishing second.
