Peter 'Pistol Pete' Maravich was an American professional basketball player renowned for his incredible scoring ability and dazzling ball-handling skills. He was a collegiate superstar at Louisiana State University, where he became the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3,667 points, averaging an astounding 44.2 points per game. His professional career included stints with the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans/Utah Jazz, and Boston Celtics, earning five NBA All-Star selections. Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987, but tragically died from an undiagnosed heart condition the following year at the age of 40.
