Marie Curie

Scientist

Marie Skłodowska Curie was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win in two different scientific fields. Her work led to the discovery of two new elements, polonium and radium, and the development of mobile radiography units during World War I. Curie's legacy endures not only through her scientific contributions but also through the research institutions she founded, the Curie Institutes in Paris and Warsaw.
