Leonhard Euler was a pioneering Swiss mathematician, physicist, astronomer, geographer, logician, and engineer. He made seminal and influential discoveries in many branches of mathematics, such as infinitesimal calculus and graph theory. Euler also introduced much of the modern mathematical terminology and notation, particularly for mathematical analysis, such as the notion of a mathematical function. Despite suffering from vision problems throughout his life, his prolific output is unparalleled, making him one of the greatest mathematicians in history.
