Horace Julian Bond was a prominent American social activist, leader in the Civil Rights Movement, politician, and professor. He helped establish the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) while he was a student at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Bond later served ten terms in the Georgia House of Representatives and six terms in the Georgia Senate. From 1998 to 2010, he was chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), continuing his lifelong dedication to civil rights and social justice.
