John L. Phillips

Astronaut

John Lynch Phillips is a distinguished American scientist and a retired NASA astronaut. Born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he pursued an extensive academic career, culminating in a Ph.D. in geophysics and space physics from UCLA. Selected by NASA in 1996, Phillips served on three spaceflights, including missions aboard the Space Shuttle and a long-duration stay on the International Space Station as part of Expedition 11. Throughout his career, he logged over 200 days in space, contributing significantly to scientific research and space exploration before retiring from the astronaut corps in 2011.
