Itzhak Perlman

Violinist

Itzhak Perlman is an Israeli-American violinist, conductor, and music teacher, widely considered one of the preeminent violinists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. After contracting polio at the age of four, which left him with a permanent physical disability, he learned to play the violin while seated. He has performed with every major orchestra and at concert halls around the globe, earning numerous awards, including 16 Grammy Awards and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Beyond his celebrated performance career, Perlman is a dedicated educator, teaching at the Juilliard School and through the Perlman Music Program which he founded with his wife.
