George Moscone

George Richard Moscone was an influential American attorney and Democratic politician. He served in the California State Senate from 1967 until he became the 37th mayor of San Francisco in 1976. As mayor, he was known for his progressive policies, including appointing women, minorities, and gay people to prominent city positions. Tragically, his promising career was cut short when he and Supervisor Harvey Milk were assassinated by former Supervisor Dan White at City Hall.
