Francis Marion was a prominent American military officer during the American Revolutionary War. Known as the 'Swamp Fox,' he was a persistent adversary of the British in their occupation of South Carolina. He is considered one of the fathers of modern guerrilla warfare and maneuver warfare due to his irregular methods of fighting. After the war, Marion served in the South Carolina State Senate and championed leniency towards former Loyalists.
