Charles Marion Russell was a renowned American artist of the Old American West. Known as 'the cowboy artist,' Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Native Americans, and landscapes of the western United States. He lived much of his life in Montana, gaining firsthand experience as a cowboy which profoundly influenced his work. His art provides a romanticized yet detailed chronicle of an era that was disappearing during his lifetime.
