Bud Abbott was an American comedian, actor, and producer best known as the straight man in the comedy duo Abbott and Costello. Alongside Lou Costello, he became one of the most popular and highest-paid entertainers in the world during the 1940s and early 1950s. Their legendary 'Who's on First?' routine is considered one of the greatest comedy sketches of all time and is enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame. After the duo's professional partnership ended in 1957, Abbott continued to work but never replicated their earlier monumental success.
