Baltasar Gracián y Morales was a Spanish Jesuit priest, writer, and philosopher of the Baroque era. Gracián is best known for his influential book The Art of Worldly Wisdom, a collection of aphorisms on how to live fully and advance socially. His writing style, known as conceptismo, is characterized by its sharp, concise, and witty prose. Despite facing censure from his Jesuit superiors for publishing without permission, his works had a profound impact on later thinkers like Schopenhauer and Nietzsche.
