Antiphanes was a prominent Greek comic playwright of the 4th century BC. He was one of the most prolific writers of Middle Comedy, with ancient sources attributing between 260 and 365 plays to his name. Though most of his work is now lost, numerous fragments and titles have survived, providing insight into the social and cultural life of Athens. His comedies often featured stock characters, parodies of myths, and witty observations on everyday life, influencing later dramatists.
