Anthony Allen Williams is an American politician who served as the fourth mayor of the District of Columbia from 1999 to 2007. Known for his bow ties and technocratic approach, he is credited with leading Washington, D.C. out of a deep financial crisis. Before becoming mayor, he was the District's first independent Chief Financial Officer, appointed by President Bill Clinton. After leaving office, Williams has remained active in public policy and urban development, serving in various executive and advisory roles.
