William Floyd Weld is an American attorney and politician who served as the 68th Governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997. As a Republican governor in a heavily Democratic state, he was known for his fiscally conservative and socially liberal policies. After his tenure, Weld returned to the private sector but remained active in politics, notably running as the Libertarian Party's nominee for Vice President in 2016. He also briefly challenged Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2020 election cycle.
