William Steele Sessions was an American attorney and jurist who served as a United States District Judge and later as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Appointed by President Ronald Reagan, he led the FBI from 1987 until his controversial dismissal by President Bill Clinton in 1993. His tenure focused on modernizing the Bureau's technology and addressing issues of diversity and discrimination within its ranks. After leaving the FBI, he returned to private law practice and remained an active voice on legal and ethical matters.
