Musician

Wanda Landowska was a pioneering Polish harpsichordist and pianist whose work was instrumental in reviving the popularity of the harpsichord in the 20th century. Born in Warsaw, she studied music from a young age and later became a leading authority on early music performance practices. After establishing a school for early music near Paris, she fled Europe during World War II and eventually settled in the United States, becoming a citizen in 1946. Her influential recordings and performances, particularly of Bach's works, left a lasting legacy on classical music and the historically informed performance movement.
