Thomas Dooley is a German-American former professional soccer player and coach, renowned for his versatile role as a defender and midfielder. He spent the majority of his successful club career in Germany, playing for teams like FC Homburg, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, and Schalke 04, winning the Bundesliga with Kaiserslautern in 1991. After becoming a U.S. citizen, he became a key figure for the United States men's national team, earning 81 caps and captaining the squad at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Following his playing career, Dooley transitioned into coaching, most notably managing the Philippines national team from 2014 to 2018.
