Stanisław Leszczyński, known as Stanislaus I, was a Polish king who reigned twice during a tumultuous period in his nation's history. Initially placed on the throne by Charles XII of Sweden, his first reign was short-lived and marked by the Great Northern War. After years in exile, he was re-elected king but was again forced to abdicate due to foreign intervention in the War of the Polish Succession. He spent his final years as the last Duke of Lorraine and Bar, where he became a renowned patron of arts and sciences until his death.
