Sibel Edmonds

Whistleblower

Sibel Edmonds is a Turkish-American former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) translator and founder of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition (NSWBC). She gained public attention after being fired from the FBI in 2002 for reporting shoddy work and security breaches that she believed could have prevented the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. Department of Justice invoked the State Secrets Privilege to prevent her from testifying in court, effectively gagging her from speaking about her time at the FBI. Despite the gag order, Edmonds has continued to speak out about corruption and misconduct within the U.S. government, becoming a prominent advocate for government transparency and whistleblower rights.
