Sam Patch, known as "The Yankee Leaper," was an American daredevil who became the country's first famous stuntman in the early 19th century. He gained renown for jumping from great heights into water, including a successful leap into the Niagara River below the falls. His signature catchphrase, "Some things can be done as well as others," became a popular American saying. Patch's career was cut short when he died during a final, fatal jump into the Genesee River in Rochester, New York.
