Robert Falcon Scott was a distinguished Royal Navy officer and a celebrated British explorer. He is best known for leading two major expeditions to the Antarctic, the Discovery Expedition and the ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition. His second expedition aimed to be the first to reach the geographical South Pole, a race he tragically lost to Roald Amundsen's Norwegian team.
