Ric Ocasek was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer who rose to fame as the frontman for the rock band The Cars. Known for his distinctive, hiccup-laden vocals and his tall, lanky appearance, he wrote or co-wrote nearly all of the band's material. After The Cars disbanded, Ocasek released several solo albums and became a sought-after producer for bands like Weezer, Bad Brains, and No Doubt. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Cars in 2018.
