Ralph Harold Boston was a renowned American track and field athlete who specialized in the long jump. He won the gold medal in the long jump at the 1960 Rome Olympics, setting a new Olympic record and breaking the long-standing world record of Jesse Owens. Throughout his illustrious career, Boston broke the world record for the long jump six times and also won Olympic silver and bronze medals in 1964 and 1968, respectively. After retiring from competition, he was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame and remained a respected figure in the world of athletics.
