Novalis

Poet

Novalis, born Georg Philipp Friedrich von Hardenberg, was a seminal German poet, author, and philosopher of early Romanticism. He is best known for his lyrical poetry, the unfinished novel Heinrich von Ofterdingen, and his philosophical fragments which explored the synthesis of art, science, and religion. His concept of the 'Blue Flower' became a central symbol of Romantic longing and the search for the infinite. Despite his tragically short life, Novalis's mystical and deeply introspective works left an indelible mark on German literature and the Romantic movement.
