Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre was a French artist and physicist, globally recognized for his invention of the daguerreotype process of photography. He began his career as an accomplished painter and the developer of the diorama, a popular theatrical spectacle in Paris. After partnering with Nicéphore Niépce, he continued to experiment with light-sensitive materials following Niépce's death, eventually leading to his groundbreaking photographic discovery in 1839. His invention, which produced highly detailed permanent images, was gifted to the world by the French government and fundamentally changed art and communication forever.
