Lesley Sue Goldstein, known professionally as Lesley Gore, was an American singer, songwriter, and activist. At age 16, she recorded the pop hit "It's My Party," which topped the charts in 1963 and launched her career. She followed it up with a string of hits, including the iconic feminist anthem "You Don't Own Me." In her later years, Gore became a prominent activist for LGBTQ+ rights and continued to compose music until her passing.
