Lamont Herbert Dozier was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer from Detroit, Michigan. He was a principal member of the legendary songwriting and production team Holland–Dozier–Holland, which wrote and produced many of the hit songs that helped define the Motown sound in the 1960s. Their iconic collaborations included dozens of chart-topping singles for artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, the Four Tops, and the Isley Brothers. After leaving Motown, Dozier continued his career as a successful solo artist and producer, earning inductions into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
