Josiah Charles Stamp, 1st Baron Stamp, was a distinguished British industrialist, economist, and public servant. He served as a director of the Bank of England and was chairman of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. As a leading expert in statistics and taxation, he was involved in significant post-World War I economic reparations committees, including the Dawes and Young Plans. His life was tragically cut short during a German bombing raid on London in 1941, which also killed his wife and eldest son.
