Sir Joseph Banks was a renowned English naturalist, botanist, and influential patron of the natural sciences. He gained prominence after participating in Captain James Cook's first great voyage aboard HMS Endeavour from 1768 to 1771. During this expedition, he discovered and cataloged a vast number of new plant and animal species, particularly from Australia and New Zealand. For over 41 years, he served as the president of the Royal Society, where he championed scientific exploration and advised King George III on the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
