John Charles Harsanyi was a Hungarian-American economist and a key figure in the development of modern game theory. He is best known for his groundbreaking work on games of incomplete information, which introduced the concept of Bayesian games. For these significant contributions, he was a co-recipient of the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, along with John Forbes Nash Jr. and Reinhard Selten. Harsanyi spent much of his influential academic career as a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
