James Nasmyth was a renowned Scottish engineer, artist, and inventor who played a significant role during the Industrial Revolution. He is best known for his invention of the steam hammer in 1839, a crucial innovation that allowed for the forging of much larger and more complex iron and steel components. Alongside his engineering achievements, Nasmyth co-founded the Bridgewater Foundry, a highly successful machine tool manufacturing business.
