Sir James Douglas, also known as 'the Black Douglas', was a renowned Scottish knight and a principal commander during the Wars of Scottish Independence. He was a loyal and trusted companion to King Robert the Bruce, fighting alongside him in crucial battles such as the Battle of Bannockburn. Feared by the English for his guerrilla tactics and battlefield prowess, his name became a legendary and terrifying one for his enemies. After the king's death, Douglas was tasked with carrying Robert the Bruce's heart on a crusade, ultimately falling in battle against the Moors in Spain.
