Jack Kevorkian

Physician

Jack Kevorkian was a controversial American pathologist and euthanasia proponent who publicly championed a terminal patient's right to die via physician-assisted suicide. He claimed to have assisted at least 130 patients to that end and was famously quoted as saying, "Dying is not a crime." His actions sparked intense national debate about the ethics of euthanasia and the right-to-die movement. After several acquittals, he was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999 and served eight years in prison.
