Jack French Kemp was an American politician and a professional gridiron football player. Before his political career, he was a quarterback for 13 seasons in the American and National Football Leagues. He served as a U.S. Representative from New York from 1971 to 1989 and was the Republican Party's nominee for Vice President in the 1996 election. Kemp was known as a prominent advocate for supply-side economics and was a key architect of the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981.
