Idi Amin

Dictator

Idi Amin Dada Oumee was a Ugandan military officer who served as the third President of Uganda from 1971 to 1979. His regime was characterized by brutal repression, political persecution, ethnic cleansing, extrajudicial killings, and gross human rights violations. Among his most notorious actions was the expulsion of Uganda's Asian minority in 1972 and his support for the hijacking of Air France Flight 139, which led to the Entebbe raid. He was overthrown in 1979 during the Uganda-Tanzania War, after which he fled and lived the remainder of his life in exile in Saudi Arabia.
