“I don't mind playing bad guys, but I don't want to be a caricature. I want to be a person.”

“I'm not a Method actor. I'm a lazy actor. I do what I do and I do it as well as I can. If it's not good enough, I'll go home and I'll be a bricklayer.”

“I've never seen a 'Harry Potter' film. I've only seen my bit, and that's it.”

“The one thing about being a character actor is that you have to be versatile.”

“I didn't start acting until I was about 23. I've been very lucky, but I think the reason I've had the career I've had is because I've always been a character actor.”

“You can go and see a film and you know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are, but in life, it's not like that.”

“I've no interest in being a lead, I've no interest in being in a film that I have to carry.”
